Raising Parents: Dealing with stress-2024-2-RO01-KA210-ADU-000290814

Raising Parents: Dealing with stress” - a new project that supports parents in Alba and Sibiu counties

The Association Center for Personal Development and Combating Risk Behaviors, known as Psiho Kit, is implementing between March 2025 and August 2026, the project titled „Raising Parents: Dealing with stress”, funded by Erasmus+ Program, Key Action KA210-ADU - Small-scale partnerships in Adult Education, project no. 2024-2-RO01-KA210-ADU-000290814.

Through this project, the association aims to use funding opportunities to develop and implement a program dedicated to parents of children with emotional difficulties. This project will be created within a multicultural partnership between: the Association Center for Personal Development and Combating Risk Behaviors from Romania, Eskişehir Sosyal İnovasyon ve Gelişim Derneği from Turkey and Cooperativa Sociale EDI – Onlus Educazione ai Diritti dell'Infanzia e dell'Adolescenza from Italy.

Within the project, 12 facilitators from all three organizations will participate in a training workshop, organized in Italy, where they will develop their skills in using experiential methods in their work with adults, will develop organizational and planning skills, collaboration and teamwork, and also socio-emotional skills. The experience will be doubled by the intercultural nature of the team, which will bring a variety of benefits.

When children go through difficult times, we, as parents, experience a high level of stress. And this stress, in turn, can make it harder to manage the challenges that children face, creating a vicious circle. Often, the difficult situations we are facing overwhelm us and we may become more irritable, more critical or we can react more harshly than we would like. This can lead to tensions within the family and can exacerbate children's emotional difficulties or behavioral problems. Our project aims to interrupt this vicious circle. By developing and implementing a program dedicated to parents of children with emotional difficulties, we provide the necessary resources and support for stress management and for adopting positive parenting practices,” said Popescu Ioana Mirela, president of the Association Center for Personal Development and Combating Risk Behaviors.

The main activities of the project are:

- The transnational meeting of the 3 partners, which will take place between 5 and 6 May 2025, in Alba Iulia, and will aim the intercultural experiences exchange, the presentation of the organizations and examples of good practices and will establish working methods and tools, coordination and reporting methods and tools for the activities and results of the project.

- Workshop: Experiential methods in working with parents will take place between 23 and 25 June 2025, in Rome, Italy and will aim to develop skills for working with parents of children with emotional difficulties using experiential methods. 12 volunteers will participate in this activity, 4 from each partner organization. During the activity, the facilitators will create a board game for the socio-emotional development of families, and, as a result of the workshops, an activity guide will be created for the development of a healthy parent-child relationship, supporting professionals in the field of adult education.

- Development and implementation of the program addressed to parents. The program will be implemented between November 2025 and March 2026, for 20 parents from each country and will include 6 workshops on the following topics: exploring emotional challenges, experiential techniques for stress and difficult situations management, improving parent-child communication and building resilience.

The project results aim to improve parenting skills through experiential methods, support parents in managing stress and emotions, as well as developing more harmonious family relationships.
